William Fan, a German designer celebrated for his fusion of European and Chinese aesthetics, commemorated his brand’s 10th anniversary at Berlin Fashion Week in February 2025. His Fall/Winter 2025 collection, titled “Alter Ego,” was showcased in the foyer of the Berlin Philharmonie, providing a grand and culturally rich backdrop for the event.

“Alter Ego” serves as a retrospective of Fan’s previous 19 collections, reinterpreting familiar silhouettes and signature details. The collection features a diverse array of designs, including draped scarves with flounces that exude movement and drama, as well as traditional embroidered waistcoats inspired by Peking Opera costumes. This blend of workwear and elegance, alongside the integration of Chinese tradition with Western modernity, exemplifies Fan’s distinctive design philosophy.

The anniversary show was notable for its inclusive casting, reflecting Fan’s commitment to diversity and representation in fashion. By revisiting and reimagining elements from his past work, Fan continues to push the boundaries of contemporary fashion, offering a fresh perspective that resonates with a global audience.
