Bringing together Ewa Czwarto, Eleanor Johnson, Jack Penny, Julia Moon and Marina Priyomova, Chorus looks at the figure from a range of perspectives. The artists explore ideas of identity, connection, vulnerability and solitude, while considering how we experience our bodies both individually and collectively in an increasingly digital and disconnected world.

The exhibition moves between very different approaches to figurative painting. Repeated and ordered forms sit alongside sprawling bodies and isolated figures, creating a varied picture of contemporary human experience. There is a sense of anonymity and transience throughout, alongside moments of humour, overwhelm and uncertainty.

While Chorus is rooted in art history’s long fascination with the human form, the exhibition moves away from traditional ideas of portraiture. Many of the figures are deliberately anonymised or universalised, allowing them to represent something beyond a single person. The body becomes a way of exploring wider questions about identity, relationships and what it means to exist alongside others.

At its heart, Chorus reflects on our social nature the ways we connect, respond to and influence one another. Each artist brings a distinct visual language to the exhibition, but together their works create a broader conversation about humanity and the shared experience of contemporary life.
