4me4you features the artist Mayuka Yamamoto - ‘Tag us for a feature ’.
MY PROCESS
Embarking on a delightful visit to the Dorothy Circus Gallery, 4me4you had the privilege of immersing into the captivating world of Mayuka Yamamoto, one of Japan's foremost second-generation painters.
Widely recognised for her global artistic influence, Yamamoto’s works feature children adorned with animal features and enigmatic expressions, weaving a narrative that delves into the subconscious of childhood. Her exploration of the theme becomes a gateway to understanding the emotions and lingering sensations within a child’s psyche, acting as a trampoline for adult introspection.
Yamamoto’s paintings unveil an intricate puzzle of emotions and mysterious symbols, drawing inspiration from the colour techniques employed by artists such as Marlene Dumas and Gilbert & George. Through her art, she guides us on a journey oscillating between tenderness and fear, providing insight into the nuanced world of today’s children. Mayuka Yamamoto’s work becomes a compelling exploration off the complex emotions and experiences that shape the evolving landscape of childhood.
