Since its inception in 1951, Marimekko has been synonymous with daring and imaginative uses of colour, from the subtleties of muted tones to the vibrancy of bold shades. At the heart of this artistic approach is Marimekko’s commitment to treating the dress as a canvas, reimagining archival patterns with new colour-ways that reflect the brand’s ethos of joyful design.

For the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, monochromatic tones inspired by the deepening winter nights, such as cinnamon and cocoa brown, spruce green, and deep greys, contrast beautifully with vibrant pops of scarlet red, blush pink, spearmint, and rich purple.

The collection also introduces textured materials like bouclé and mouliné, which complement the softness of wool and the crispness of cotton. These fabrics come to life in pleated woven dresses, chunky knitwear, denim, and luxurious outerwear. “Marimekko’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection explores the dialogue between light and dark, with colour providing an interjection of joy.

The Vilhelm Lauritzen terminal felt like the perfect backdrop for the dualism that we play with this season, but it also reflects the modernist and functionalist design thinking that Marimekko has always embraced. We are extremely honoured to have been able to welcome our guests to this iconic and private Copenhagen landmark and celebrate Marimekko’s art of printmaking inside this architectural masterpiece,” says Rebekka Bay, Creative Director at Marimekko.
