IAMISIGO, the African slow design house rooted in Lagos, Nairobi, and Accra, presented their work at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2025, showcasing contemporary wearable art that preserves Africa’s intangible cultural heritage. Founded on the principles of nomadic conscious craftsmanship, each piece is handmade from start to finish by African artisans using traditional and often endangered techniques, blending ancestral knowledge with modern expression.
The brand is committed to textile preservation, circular design, and regenerative fashion, sourcing natural fibers, upcycled materials, and unconventional mediums to minimize environmental impact. Accessories crafted from brass and glass and garments incorporating heritage weaving methods are more than aesthetics—they serve as living archives, a tactile form of cultural preservation and resistance against post- and neo-colonial narratives.
