GMBH SS26 collection, “Imitation of Life,” staged in a setting reminiscent of an opulent ballroom, the show unfolded as a three-act drama, each act a meditation on survival, love, and resistance in the face of violence and despair. 

GmbH offered a wardrobe that merged fragility with strength, tailoring with tenderness. Delicate satin boxer shorts, cropped tops, and fluid shirts brushed against the skin like whispered prayers, while precise suiting grounded the collection with a quiet authority. Oversized bows, placed dramatically on the backs of coats and blazers, added a touch of surreal romance, transforming the silhouette into something sculptural and symbolic.

Each garment carried meaning beyond its cut and colour. Sash-like draping, bow embellishments, and embroidery functioned like gestures, soft yet strong. Several pieces bore inscriptions, translated into acts of wearable resistance:
“Safe from harm”
“Mashallah”
“Peace be upon you from what you patiently endured.”

These were not mere words, but spiritual salves stitched into the seams,a powerful gesture in a world seemingly unraveling at the edges.

At its core, GmbH’s “Imitation of Life” asked an urgent question: How do we go on? The answer was layered in tailoring, softness, and a refusal to let beauty die in the face of brutality. It was a call for compassion, for remembrance, and for humanity through design.
