In a bold and introspective turn, David Koma made his Berlin Fashion Week debut with a powerful statement: “I Love David.” Known for dressing icons like Beyoncé and Zendaya in sharp, sculptural silhouettes, Koma stepped into uncharted territory, presenting his first-ever standalone menswear runway show, and in doing so, offering a striking redefinition of masculinity through his uniquely glamorous lens.

The SS26 collection, unveiled during the brand’s 15th anniversary, was not merely a fashion moment, it was a personal chapter.

At its heart was a self-portrait, an exploration of identity and influence, filtered through three Davids: Michelangelo’s David, David Beckham, and David Koma himself. The result? A richly textured meditation on beauty, strength, and modern male sensuality.

Titled “I Love David,” the show played with contrasts and contradictions. Y2K-inspired denim, graphic prints, and sheer mesh shirts stood alongside tailored separates adorned with intricate hand-embroidered hibiscus brooches, a motif inspired by Koma’s travels and previously featured in his womenswear collections. “Giant brooches bloom on lapels … gracing both refined eveningwear and everyday pieces,” read the show notes—a nod to Koma’s enduring attention to detail and ornamentation.

This wasn’t simply a shift from femininity to masculinity, it was a blend of both. Faux fur coats, oversized, plush, and provocatively sensual, interrupted the expected language of minimalist menswear.
