Originally published on 4me4you.tumblr.com in 2013, this feature is now being revisited and republished on 4me4you.org, preserving an important part of the 4me4you archive and bringing its original story to a new audience.
MY PROCESS
The original feature documented a visit by 4me4you to London's Pure Evil Gallery, an independent contemporary art space recognised for its association with urban art, street culture and international creative talent.
During this visit, 4me4you discovered the work of Australian artist Shannon Crees, whose distinctive artistic practice brings together vibrant colour, intricate patterns, figurative imagery and expressive textures. Drawing on her background in fashion illustration and graphic design, Crees has developed a recognisable visual style that moves between contemporary painting, street art and mixed-media experimentation.
Her work explores the relationship between colour, composition and visual storytelling, demonstrating an ability to transform familiar imagery into striking and imaginative artistic statements.
Shannon Crees has established an international exhibition profile, with notable career highlights including her participation in Banksy's Cans Festival 2 in London in 2008, where she was the only Australian artist selected for the event. Her exhibition history also includes a solo presentation at Pure Evil Gallery in London in 2013.
The original 4me4you visit captured more than an exhibition; it documented an encounter with an artist whose creative vision reflects the energy and diversity of contemporary urban art.
Revisiting this feature in 2026 provides an opportunity to reconnect with that moment in 4me4you's history. By transferring selected articles from its original Tumblr publication to 4me4you.org, the project continues to preserve its editorial heritage, celebrate previously featured artists and make its archive accessible to a new generation of readers.
The move from Tumblr to 4me4you.org is therefore not simply a change of publishing platform. It represents the continuation of an ongoing creative journey, documenting artists, exhibitions, galleries and the people who contribute to the ever-evolving world of contemporary art.
