4me4you visited W1 Curate,to experience Ancestral Futurism, an immersive exhibition by Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel.
MY PROCESS
The gallery had been transformed into a vivid, almost dreamlike space, filled with huge digital projections of geometric figures and hybrid creatures.
“Ancestral Futurism”.
Colour, movement and bold imagery came together to explore ideas around identity, diversity and how we live alongside one another.
Okuda is known for bringing the energy of street culture into contemporary art, using bright, kaleidoscopic colours, geometric shapes and symbolic characters to create work that is instantly recognisable.
The whole space became part of the experience, with projections and surfaces creating a constantly changing
environment that blurred the line between the physical and digital worlds.
At its heart, Ancestral Futurism invites us to think differently about identity, culture and belonging, while celebrating the many ways people experience and inhabit the world.
This was a colourful and visually powerful experience, one that offered plenty to look at, think about and capture through still images.
