Recently, 4me4you.org stepped inside the ever-inspiring RHODES Gallery to discover Pool Diaries, the latest exhibition by Scottish contemporary artist Nick Smith.
MY PROCESS
From the moment we entered, it was clear this wasn't simply an exhibition about swimming pools, it was an invitation to look a little closer at the everyday moments that often go unnoticed.
“POOL DIARIES”
Featuring original works, Pool Diaries draws inspiration from the architecture, atmosphere and unique rituals that surround pools across the world.
What begins as a celebration of sun-soaked spaces soon unfolds into something far more reflective, exploring themes of time, memory and the quiet beauty found in ordinary experiences.
Smith’s sharp eye for detail and subtle sense of humour bring these familiar scenes to life, encouraging visitors to pause, observe and appreciate the stories hidden in the smallest moments.
Originally launched at Untitled Art, Miami Beach in 2025, Pool Diaries marks an exciting new chapter in Smith’s practice.
Seeing the works together at RHODES Gallery was both visually rewarding and quietly thought-provoking, offering another reminder of why Nick Smith continues to be one of the most engaging voices in contemporary art today.
