MY PROCESS

Meet Mireille Begijn, also known as Mademoiselle Nouvelle. Her work is often described as dreamy, sometimes with a bold or rebellious twist. She draws inspiration from the elegance of the Art Nouveau era, blending it seamlessly with influences from other historical periods. Recurring themes, fashion, animals, and deeply personal narratives, are central to her artistic universe.

An artist at heart and soul, Mireille lives in Belgium, where creativity is not just a passion but a powerful tool for expression and resilience.

For over 40 years, her wheelchair has been a companion on her journey, not a limitation, but a means of moving forward. Living with a muscular condition hasn’t held her back; instead, it has shaped a unique perspective and deepened her connection to art. Creativity has become both refuge and strength.

Mireille studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she explored sculpture, fashion, and jewellery design. Over the years, she has received numerous awards, especially for her work in embroidery and sewing, disciplines that reflect her love for precision, detail, and patience.

Due to limited mobility, Mireille’s home has become her studio, and her computer, a vital window to the world. It’s here that she connects, creates, and shares her voice with others.

Photography has always been a passion, but the rise of artificial intelligence has opened a new chapter,  one where imagination is no longer bound by physical constraints. With AI, Mireille transforms visions from her mind into evocative, visual stories.

Through her art, Mireille invites others to pause, reflect, and step into a world where the past, imagination, and emotion beautifully collide.
