ABOUT ME

4me4you features the artist Cotton Tsumi, also known as COTOH, who has been shaping the contemporary art scene since 2017.

MY PROCESS

Originally starting his career as an illustrator, he quickly gained recognition through collaborations with musicians and apparel brands. Over time, Tsumi evolved into a contemporary artist, exploring the dynamic intersections between digital illustration and traditional art forms.

COTOH’s artistic vision is rooted in the idea that there are no inherent boundaries between digital illustrations and contemporary art. With this philosophy in mind, he has successfully crafted a body of work that blends mass-consumed illustration styles with traditional printmaking techniques.

His pieces incorporate a diverse range of methods, including silkscreen, giclee prints, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and hand-painted works, each offering a unique twist on their respective processes. The ukiyo-e woodblock prints are the only exception, maintaining a sense of historical authenticity.

He challenges the conventional view of such practices as purely commercial, presenting them as valid forms of artistic expression. His work refuses to be confined by any single style or approach, constantly evolving and adapting.

COTOH’s exploration offers a refreshing contrast to the more widely seen depictions of urban female characters in contemporary art, presenting a fresh perspective that continues to push boundaries.
