First featured on 4me4you.tumblr.com back in 2013, this article makes a welcome return to the newly established 4me4you.org. We're taking another look at a memorable visit that introduced us to the wonderfully unusual world of American artist Butch Anthony.
During our visit to Pertwee Anderson & Gold Gallery in London, we discovered an artist whose work refuses to fit neatly into one category. Blending elements of fine art, folk art, vintage imagery, found objects and popular culture, Butch Anthony brings together an unexpected mix of ideas, materials and stories.
Anthony has a real eye for the unusual. His work often incorporates old photographs, antique objects, natural curiosities and reclaimed materials, transforming things that might otherwise be overlooked into fascinating pieces of art. Each object seems to have a story of its own, and his work encourages us to look a little closer and imagine the history behind it.
His distinctive approach, which he calls Intertwangular Art, combines humour, curiosity and a playful appreciation of the unexpected. There’s a strong sense of individuality running through his work, with unusual combinations and visual references that challenge the way we traditionally think about art.

Our visit to Pertwee Anderson & Gold Gallery offered a fascinating glimpse into his creative world and left us with a fresh appreciation for an artist who sees possibilities where others might simply see forgotten objects.
