4me4you Features Digital Creator: Telle.Kalkattak – “Surreal AI”
MY PROCESS
Telle.Kalkattak (Estelle Cortet) traces the evolution of image-making from the flicker of MiniDV to the unpredictable landscapes of generative AI.
With a background that spans media sciences and software development, she treats technology not as a tool, but as a collaborator—exploring the glitches, biases, and surreal moments that arise when machine logic meets human irrationality.
A longtime contributor to the creative collective Kalkattak, Telle has recently ventured into generative video, producing short films and immersive installations that have screened internationally.
Her work balances technical precision with absurdist experimentation, crafting what she calls “nonsense with intent”, fleeting transmissions from a world that is both alien and disconcertingly familiar.
For Telle, creativity is less about commanding a machine and more about curating a fever dream. She approaches AI not for perfection, but as a medium of synthetic decay, a way to uncover the ghosts in the code and the textures of an analog past
Her process begins with a fascination for tactile imperfection: the glitches, organic noise, and uncanny textures that emerge when AI meets human irrationality. She collaborates with the machine through language, not seeking photorealism but the surreal, the spliced moments where a face might become a wire, or a dinner morph into a displaced memory.
It is in the intentional glitch, where technical precision collides with happy accident, that her work comes alive. When the AI produces something “incorrect” yet emotionally resonant, that is when the real magic begins.
