4me4you recently had the pleasure of visiting Gillian Jason Gallery, where artist Weijue Wang was featured in their latest group showcase.
Wang’s work offers a critical exploration off the intersection between female sexuality, digital culture, and societal expectations. She investigates how the internet shapes and commodifies intimacy, particularly focusing on the ways women’s bodies are consumed, manipulated, and constrained within digital spaces.

Through the appropriation of pornographic imagery, Wang underscores the tension between autonomy and objectification, probing how desire is influenced by algorithms and the constant flow of online content. In an age of hyper-visibility, where personal expression is often both dictated and distorted by digital platforms, Wang’s work challenges the desensitisation and detachment that can arise from the relentless consumption of sexualised imagery. She emphasises the impact of this phenomenon on the expectations placed upon the female body, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of desire and representation in the digital age.
