4me4you recently had the pleasure of visiting PACE (London) Gallery, where the spotlight shone on the distinguished artist, Mao Yan.

MY PROCESS

Mao Yan's portraits intentionally steer clear of specific cultural or temporal associations, aiming for a timeless essence that surpasses mere context. His deliberate selection of a restricted palette, mainly featuring cool gray and blue tones, not only functions as a compositional element but also takes on a role as a subject itself, in accordance with the artist's intent.

Hailed as one of the foremost contemporary artists in China, Mao Yan’s artistry transcends boundaries. With deft strokes of his brush, he captures the essence of everyday faces, inviting viewers into a realm of contemplation and serenity amidst the frenetic pace of modern life.
